MIRAIDO — FROM ANCIENT ROADS TO FUTURE ROADS
Where teens take on
society with AI.
MIRAIDO is a social entrepreneurship platform in rural Japan.
Junior high and high school students take what they learn out of the classroom and test it on real stages — together with local governments, schools and companies.
Why "MIRAIDO"?
The name joins kodo (ancient road) and mirai-do (road to the future). Our two home towns each sit on a historic trail: Owase in Mie, on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and Sakurai in Nara, on the Yamanobe-no-michi road.
These depopulating regions face real problems. We believe the people best placed to solve them include the teenagers who live there.
What we do
Robotics competitions
We host the officially recognised WRO Japan Mie regional qualifier (2025, 2026) and RoboRAVE Mie (Feb 2026). RoboRAVE Nara is in preparation.
Suzuka Ene-1 Challenge
A mixed junior high / high school team is preparing to race a self-built electric motorbike at Suzuka Circuit on 20 December 2026.
AI startup challenge
Students find a local problem and design a business to solve it, using AI as a tool. (In preparation.)
FIRST Tech Challenge
Building robots — and also pitching sponsors, running PR and managing a team. (Team in preparation.)
Inspired by Estonia
We draw on the entrepreneurship education developed in Estonia, where it has spread to schools nationwide. We would love to connect with schools, universities and organisations in Estonia and elsewhere for exchanges, online sessions or short study programmes.
